SUMMARY

The all-in-one solution for central application deployment with Microsoft Windows Server 2003

Key Features & Benefits

Features
To maintain their competitive edge, even small- and medium-sized businesses are increasingly required to design a low-cost, efficient IT infrastructure. Ideal for this is a server-based architecture, in which applications used in the company are deployed centrally. In addition to greatly increased efficiency – e.g., by connecting home users or mobile workers –, such an architecture offers enormous savings an IT environment, and hardware costs can be greatly minimized by using low-maintenance, long-lasting client computers. Whereas this technology has always been more of an option for large companies, the Remote Desktop Suite Standard has also made it affordable for small businesses.

Server-based computing with the Remote Desktop Suite offers the following advantages:

Remote access for home users
Users can work at any location just as if they were at the office. Any private PC with internet access becomes a "normal workstation"

Connection of mobile workers
Mobile workers can access all data on the company server at any time while underway using a laptop.

Simplification of IT administration and support
Central application deployment means all programs and hardware drivers have to be installed and configured only once. Additional installation work on individual workstations is therefore a thing of the past.

Lower hardware costs
In server-based computing, even older, lower-performance computers can be used at the individual workstations, because the actual computing is done by the server.

Secure
The Remote Desktop Suite uses SSL encryption, like they use for online banking, and additionally secures the company from outside attack by setting up a firewall.

Inexpensive
A Remote Desktop architecture for 5 users or devices costs less than a single desktop PC and provides better productivity and flexibility.

Extension Packs
All versions of the Remote Desktop Suite are available as complete solution with extension packs for adding more CALs (Client Access Licenses). The Extension Pack lets each version of the Remote Desktop Suite be tailored to your requirements by adding 5 more users or end devices.

Licensing
The standard version of the Remote Desktop Suite is available as complete solution with 5 CALs (Client Access Licenses) for Microsoft Terminal Services as well as the contained .print technology. The environment can be extended to your requirements with Extension Packs for 5 CALs each.

To license your environment optimally and inexpensively, you also have a choice between user and device CALs. The former is always the right choice when users often change their workplace and access the terminal server with different client computers – e.g., sometimes with a thin client at the office and sometimes from the home PC. Device CALs are the right choice when multiple users, like part-time employees, share a client machine.

Maintenance Packs are available for both the Remote Desktop Suite and its Extension Packs and secure a 12-month update service for the software.
