Malicious code which exploits a vulnerability in all versions of Internet Explorer (IE) was first mentioned on closed hacker forums during November 2008. On 9 December 2008, the Chinese hacker group KnownSec Team made this malicious code publicly available. The vulnerability itself is in IE’s XML parser.
